Level 2 Mathematics with Calculus
Course Description

A major emphasis of the course is on the development and application of Algebra and Graph skills. It extends work done in Level 1 Mathematics in topics such as Algebra and Geometry but also introduces Calculus for the first time.
It aims to prepare students for the study of Mathematics with Calculus at NCEA Level 3 and equip them with the skills to tackle a wider variety of problems in a number of subject areas.
Recommended Prior Learning
This course is designed to meet the needs of students who have achieved at least 15 Achievement Standard credits from Level 1 Mathematics Achievement Standards, including AS91945 (Use mathematical methods to explore problems that relate to life in Aotearoa New Zealand or the Pacific) and AS91947 (Demonstrate mathematical reasoning).
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
A graphics calculator is essential.

An understanding of Mathematics is important in business, commerce, and industry. Most employers regard Mathematics as an essential skill for employees to have.

Costs
The Board of Trustees has again asked to opt into the Ministry of Education donation scheme. Doing so resulted in the ability to waive student fee donations. Kaiapoi High School aims to deliver quality educational courses over and above those that which is funded by the Ministry. It is likely the School will opt into the donation scheme for 2025, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant, may be requested. We appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
