L1NUMR

Level 1 Numeracy

Course Description

Head of Faculty/Teacher in Charge: Mr W. Cook.

This course is designed as a supported learning course for those students who have not yet obtained Numeracy Co-requisite in Year 10. Students will be identified for this course and invited to apply based on their numeracy requirements as identified from their overall achievement in Year 10 Numeracy Assessment.

This course does not lead directly to any Year 12 Mathematics and Statistics courses, however, students can go on to take Level 1 Mathematics, and having the Numeracy Co-Requisite enables them to go on to earn NCEA Qualifications at levels 1, 2, or 3. Plus having the Numeracy Co-Requisite will open up other courses to the student that require it as a pre-requisite for entry.

Kaiapoi High School aims to deliver quality educational courses over and above those that which is funded by the Ministry. It is likely the School will opt into the donation scheme for 2025, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant, may be requested.
