Pathways

Pathways is a faculty focused on preparing students for vocational pathways beyond secondary school. Pathways and the Gateway Programme provide engaging, fulfilling study options for students who thrive outside a traditional classroom environment. We offer practical learning and work-ready skills and develop individual learning programmes tailored to the needs and interests of each student.

Building Course – Kaiapoi highs only 8-hour course, offering an extensive range of pre-trade BCATS (building construction and trades), theory papers whilst completing a range of practical wood, metal & concrete projects around the school. This course is the ideal course for those students hoping to enter a trade when completing school.

Gateway – Gateway offers year 12 & 13 students structured workplace learning across many industries and businesses in our local communities. Students gain new skills and knowledge in the workplace and spend 10 -15 days at a workplace during the year. We work hard to place our students with welcoming businesses that match their interests and career goals.

Automotive – a course that offers an introduction to mechanical & engineering-based trades. Automotive has a broad range of practical work and accompanying unit standards. The perfect grounding for those students working towards a trades-based career. Currently, we only offer this course at level 1.

Ready for Work – Prepares students for life after school by helping them create a plan for the future, gain job search skills, and improve their ability to make positive and informed decisions as part of their community.

E-school – Pathways offers a limited number of places in correspondence schools, such as NetNZ & Te Kura. This pathway is primarily for students wanting to do subjects we are unable to offer.
