Social Science

The Social Sciences learning area is about how societies work and how people can participate as critical, active, informed, and responsible citizens. Contexts are drawn from the past, present, and future and from places within and beyond New Zealand. The Social Sciences deliver meaningful, relevant, and engaging contexts.

The student is at the centre of the curriculum. Students are challenged to develop their own viewpoints on both past and present issues. They can demonstrate critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Students have a choice with what and how they learn in the Social Sciences.
