Level 3 Photography
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mx R. Goldstein.
Level 3 Photography extends and expands on skills learned in Level 2 Photography, and utilises digital processes. Students are encouraged to explore, research, and be influenced by established photographers, but create their own photographic style.
Students are encouraged to be passionate about their context and subject matter and to develop their own ideas and themes over the year, in consultation with the teacher.
Students can further their technical camera skills, lighting processes, and situation photography skills.
Students can use our high-quality Nikon cameras, props, and lighting studio.
Students complete one external assessment, where they display a three panel portfolio of their year’s work. Students can also complete one internal assignment, and have the option to complete a second. Each are 4 credit assignments. These assignments can utilise the same work as on the exam portfolio.
Opportunities arise each year for students to publicly exhibit their work and enter competitions.

Costs
The Board of Trustees has again asked to opt into the Ministry of Education donation scheme. Doing so resulted in the ability to waive student fee donations. Kaiapoi High School aims to deliver quality educational courses over and above those that which is funded by the Ministry. It is likely the School will opt into the donation scheme for 2024, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant, may be requested. We appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
