Level 3 Painting and Printmaking
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mx R. Goldstein.
Level 3 Painting or Printmaking both explore surface, risk-taking, and possibilities. Mediums can pour from the surface, or surprise you with colour and texture.
This is a very practical, hands-on course.
Students are encouraged to create their own painting or printmaking style and expand their understanding of surface, pictorial space, mediums, and their observational drawing skills.
Students will develop ideas and themes over the year, in consultation with the teacher, and utilise artist role models to extend and regenerate their work.
Students complete one external assessment, where they display a three panel portfolio of their year’s work.
Students can also complete one internal assignment, and have the option to complete a second. Each are 4 credit assignments. These assignments utilise the same work as on the exam portfolio and are therefore presented digitally by photographing their artworks.
Opportunities arise each year for students to publicly exhibit their work and enter competitions.

Costs
The Board of Trustees has again asked to opt into the Ministry of Education donation scheme. Doing so resulted in the ability to waive student fee donations. Kaiapoi High School aims to deliver quality educational courses over and above those that which is funded by the Ministry. It is likely the School will opt into the donation scheme for 2024, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant, may be requested. We appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
