L1MEDS

Level 1 Media Studies

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr B. Morrison.

Is the new L1 Media course perfect for you? Do you enjoy writing and research topics? Are you ready to unlock the door to the captivating realm of Media Studies! In a world where communication dominates every aspect of our lives, understanding the power and influence of media is vital.

The best thing about this course is that you will earn 9 Level 2 credits to give yourself a head start for 2025!

How this works:

If you pick 5 subjects teaching the new Level 1 standards, you will be sitting between 90 and 100 credits.  You only need 60 to pass NCEA Level 1.

The smart choice is to pick Media Studies as your 6th subject and earn 9 credits.  This means the following year you would only need 51 Level 2 credits, as you would already have 9 in the bank!

Your teacher will guide you through one L2 standard per term, worth 3 credits each.

Best of all, there will be no external exam! You can use the time to prepare for your other subject exams in the media class in term four.

You dont have to have done Y10 Media to do this course.

2. Write a media text. This could be a film script, a short story for a magazine, a podcast script, a review, a speech, etc. The opportunities are endless.
