To be accepted for this course students must have earned 14 or more credits in Level 1 Food & Nutrition or Level 1 English, or HOF approval
Students will explore the nutritional needs of teenage athletes and give recommendations of areas they can improve their nutrition to enhance their performance. Students will also analyse ways in which the environment and the well-being of an individual and community are affected by changing values, attitudes, beliefs, and technological innovation.
There is a practical component to this course that allows students to practice skills and experiment with various ingredients in order to secure a variety of safe, affordable, and nutritious meals. This course will develop students’ ability to evaluate information, make informed decisions, and use interpersonal skills effectively.
This course has used Level 7 achievement objectives of the Health and Physical Education curriculum.
Food & Nutrition is helpful if you wish to become a nutritionist or health education/advisor or work in the areas of sports science or food marketing.
