Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

To be accepted for this course, students must have earned 14 credits from Level 1 Digital Art, or have received HOF approval.


This course encourages students to explore, research, and be influenced by established photographers while creating their own photographic style. 

Students develop and explore their ideas, themes, context and subject matter over the year, in consultation with the teacher.

Students will learn various techniques, including furthering their aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, lighting, situation-specific photography skills, and digital Photoshop skills.

 Opportunities arise each year for students to publicly exhibit their work and enter competitions.

Assessment Information

Students complete one external assessment, where they display a three panel portfolio of their year’s work. Students can also complete one internal assignment, and have the option to complete a second. Each are 4 credit assignments. These assignments can utilise the same work as on the exam portfolio.

					Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
										

Level 2 Photography utilises our DSLR Nikon cameras, and digital processes. Students can use our high-quality Nikon cameras, props, and lighting studio.

Please note that courses will go ahead only if student numbers, staffing, and timetabling allow it.  Where a subject is oversubscribed, and there are insufficient numbers or resources to create an extra class, a ballot system may be applied.  

Costs

KHS aims to deliver educational courses over and above that which is funded by the Ministry, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant may be requested, and we appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
