Course Description

At this advanced level of History, the skills of independent historical research, communication, analysis, evaluation, and essay writing are developed. 



Course Overview

What is taught in courses varies from year to year. This course could include:
The course includes a focus on English history, including the Middle Ages and the events that led up to the execution of Charles I.

Recommended Prior Learning

To be accepted for this course students must have earned 12 credits from Level 1 History (with at least 4 of these from an external), or 12 credits from Level 2 History (with at least 4 of these from an external), or HOF approval.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

There is a full-day field trip to Akaroa.

Pathway

Level 3 History helps students to cope with the demands of tertiary study and the skills practiced are necessary for a wide variety of careers.

Costs

The Board of Trustees has again asked to opt into the Ministry of Education donation scheme. Doing so resulted in the ability to waive student fee donations. Kaiapoi High School aims to deliver quality educational courses over and above those that which is funded by the Ministry. It is likely the School will opt into the donation scheme for 2023, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant, may be requested. We appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
